Encourage Consumers To Shop Local This Christmas

The pandemic has affected all of us in different ways, but retailers in particular are struggling. With England back in lockdown until the beginning of December, as a small independent outlet you may feel as though there isn’t much you can do.

However, as Stylist Magazine pointed out, more people than ever before are looking to shop local to support businesses in their community this year, so this is a chance to capitalise on that sentiment.

Even if you can’t open your doors to trade in person right now, make sure that consumers can still find you online.

If you have a physical shop, invest in A1 poster printing and design a poster showcasing your festive offerings, as well as telling people how they can contact you and view your goods while you’re not able to open your store.

People are still going grocery shopping and there will be people walking along most UK high streets at the moment, so don’t let your location go to waste at this crucial time of year if you rely on festive sales.

The magazine also recommended that consumers visit the many virtual Christmas markets taking place in the coming weeks, so make sure you’re not only part of them, but that you advertise your involvement, both online and through the likes of posters. 

The Belfast Telegraph recently shared the findings of a survey by Hastings Hotels, which revealed 71 per cent of the public are choosing to shop locally this Christmas to support businesses in their communities.
